Steel Sheet Pile Wharf Construction Process

The construction process of steel sheet pile wharf mainly includes the following steps:

‌1. Preparation before construction‌

This includes preparation work such as prefabrication, transportation and stacking of steel sheet piles, and determining the location, size and pile foundation requirements of the wharf based on the design drawings. Clean up the construction site and ensure the work area is tidy.

2. Construction process‌
‌a. Prefabrication of sheet piles‌: Make and assemble steel sheet piles according to design requirements.
‌b. Transportation and stacking of sheet piles‌: Transport the prefabricated sheet piles to the construction site, arrange and fix them at certain intervals along the axis of the dock. Stack according to regulations.
‌c. Piling construction of sheet piles‌: Use a pile driver or vibrator to drive the sheet piles into the seabed or the ground one by one to form a continuous wall. The pile heads need to be buried to a certain depth to ensure the stability of the pile body. This process requires strict control of the verticality and position of the sheet piles to ensure the flatness and stability of the wall.
‌d. Deviation correction‌: During the construction process, if there is a deviation in the position or verticality of the sheet pile, it needs to be corrected in time to ensure the construction quality.

e. Drainage treatment: If there is a large water depth in the construction area, drainage measures can be taken. A submersible pump or pump truck can be used to remove the water so the construction area can be cleared.
f. Pouring pile caps: Place the prefabricated part of the bridge abutment above the sheet piles through hoisting equipment. The staff reinforced the pile and poured concrete according to the design requirements to form the pile cap.
g. Prestressed anchorage: According to the design requirements, prestressed steel bars are set in the pile cap. The steel bars are anchored to the ground or concrete structure through special anchoring equipment to enhance the load-bearing capacity of the pile cap.
h. Pile cap construction: After the prestressed anchoring is completed, other structural construction of the pile cap is carried out, such as pipeline layout, guardrail settings, anti-collision facilities, etc.

i. Filling between piles: According to design requirements, fill between sheet piles or between pile caps and sheet piles. Filling materials can be sand, gravel, etc., which are compacted during the filling process to enhance the overall stability of the dock.
j. Pile head treatment: Treat the pile head to make it meet the design requirements, such as cutting, sanding, etc.
k. Completion acceptance: Acceptance of the completed wharf to ensure that it meets the design requirements and relevant specifications and has functional functions.

The above are the general steps of the steel sheet pile wharf construction process. The specific construction process will vary according to different design requirements and construction site conditions.

‌3. Maintenance and maintenance after construction‌
After the construction is completed, necessary maintenance and upkeep of the dock will be carried out to ensure its long-term stability and safe use.

The entire construction process needs to be carried out in strict accordance with the design requirements and construction specifications to ensure construction quality and use safety.
