The connection method between the seamless pipe for transporting gas, pipe joints, valves and inlet and outlet pipes on equipment. It is determined by factors such as the nature, pressure and temperature of the gas, the material, size and installation place of the pipe. There are four main methods: threaded connection, flange connection, socket connection and welding.
1. Threaded connection
Mainly suitable for small diameter seamless pipes. When connecting, it is generally necessary to wrap a fluorine plastic sealing tape on the threaded connection part, or apply thick paint, wrap around hemp silk and other sealing materials to prevent leakage. When the pressure is above 1.6 MPa, a gasket is generally added to the end face of the pipe to seal. This connection method is simple and can be disassembled and reassembled, but a live joint must be installed in an appropriate place in the pipeline to facilitate disassembly.
2. Flange connection
Applicable seamless pipe diameter range is large. When connecting, select different flanges and sealing gaskets according to the nature, pressure and temperature of the gas, and use bolts to clamp the gasket to keep the seal. Flange connections are mostly used at pipe sections that need to be disassembled frequently and where pipes are connected to equipment.
According to the connection method between the flange and the pipe, it is divided into the following five basic types: threaded flange, flat welding flange, butt welding flange, socket welding flange, loose sleeve flange.
3. Plug-in connection
It is mainly used for the connection between cast iron pipes, concrete pipes, clay pipes and their joints. It is only suitable for water supply, drainage and gas pipelines working under low pressure and normal temperature conditions. When connecting, generally fill the groove of the socket with hemp silk, cotton thread or asbestos rope first. Then fill it with asbestos cement or lead, and fill the socket with a rubber sealing ring to make it more flexible and allow the pipe to move a little.
4. Solder connection
Welded joints have the best strength and tightness, and are suitable for all kinds of pipes, saving labor and materials, but the pipes and pipe joints must be cut off when disassembling.
